The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met for their regular meeting at the Municipal Building. Present were Supervisors Sam Bartolotto, Dave Dietrich and Patrick Bracey, Zoning Officer Bob Sanders, Greg & Susan Dunn, RC Cassidy from the Washington County Sewage Council, Shirley Harris, Bruce Livingood, Tim Hamilton, Randy Hamilton, Mike & Billie Schwarz, Doug & Pegg Smith and Police Chief Will DeForte. The meeting was called to order at 7:00.
Public Participation: Susan Dunn offered thanks for the use of the garage for the Rise Against Hunger packing event and asked if the church would be allowed to do it again next year. The date will be September 27, 2025. An official decision will be made at the next meeting.
Randy Hamilton asked about Dry Run Rd repairs. Nothing has been heard yet from CNX.
Motion to accept minutes as written with one change: Where is says Bracey read letter from Consol concerning the donated property should say email instead of letter. Seconded by Dietrich. All agreed.
Police report was given by Chief DeForte.
Fire report given by Dietrich: 14 calls since last report, 3 were during work hours.
Road report was available for review.
Old business: Donations are still being accepted for the schoolhouse painting project. Doug Smith is working on a grant application for the LSA county grant. He has a letter of support from State Senator Camera Bartolotta.
Subsidence agreement from Consol was discussed. It was reviewed by Dennis Makel’s office and they responded with a letter recommending that we do not sign that particular agreement as it was very advantageous to Consol and not at all to the Township. After discussion, it was decided to just
move forward with the Act 537 planning looking for other possible locations and to hold off on any response to Consol.
Agreement for Act 537 Planning grant was received and executed, and planning can start.
PMRS reimbursement funds were received in the amount of $14,215.89.
New business: Secretary brought up a Fraud Insurance Policy recommended by HA Thomson. Information was given to Supervisors to review.
An electricity supplier called to see if the twp. would be interested in using them to supply electricity. After discussion, it was decided that it’s best to stay with West Penn Power.
There was discussion on UPS systems in case of power outages. Bracey will get some information on them.
Dietrich mentioned that the truck is back and the warranty on the new engine is registered.
Motion by Bartolotto to review and pay bills, seconded by Dietrich, all agreed.
