The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met for their regular meeting. Present were Supervisors Sam Bartolotto, Rob Sanders and Dave Dietrich, Zoning Officer Bob Sanders, Randy Hamilton and Marcy Lindley. Meeting called to order at 6:00
Public Participation: Randy asked about zoning and the Zoeller house, street lights, update on sewage plant (we’re still waiting on Consol’s word on the property) and requested that the road crew warn residents before tar and chipping roads.
Road report was read.
Fire Report: VFD responded to 13 calls and Dave responded to four during working hours, three medical and one fire.
Police report was read from the beginning of September. There have been 41 traffic citations written to date. The new Dodge Charger will be coming in October. Traffic details will be set up on back roads and near the mine portal in early October. Sgt Ryan McIntyre will be working part time for GCRPD starting next month. The station also had a request that all roads be posted with speed limit signs to avoid problems with the magistrate if people contest tickets. Pam will contact Stephanie From PennDOT to see if there is a process we need to go through to do that.
Old Business: ARP final deposit of funds in the amount of $57,411.06 has been received by the township. Clean up day is Saturday, October 1 from 7-4. Marcy Lindley had a question about what was allowed at clean up. There was also talk about appointing a new Planning Commission member.
New Business:
Motion by Sanders to Pass Resolution #4 on Act 57, which allows taxpayers who fail to receive a tax notice during their first year of occupancy to apply for a waiver from penalties and additional costs from the tax collector. The state Department of Community and economic Development is required to make a standard waiver form available. Seconded by Dietrich, all agreed.
Williams tree service will be trimming some trees on various twp roads in the next couple of weeks. The price of the work is below the bidding threshold amount so no bids were necessary.
Motion by Sanders to review and pay bills. Seconded by Bartolotto. All agreed.
Marcy Lindley, asked about cell service in the township and the results of Pam’s meeting with Senator Bartolotta. Pam is awaiting a contact from Verizon on “small cells”. Meeting adjourned at 6:23
