Supervisor Meeting Minutes – November 2, 2021

The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met for their regular meeting at the Municipal Building.

Present were Supervisors Rob Sanders, Dave Dietrich, Doug Smith, Zoning Officer Bob Sanders,

State Trooper Eric Ernhardt, Greg Dunn, Randy Hamilton, Tim Hamilton, Denise Chadwick, Karen Shaw, Sam Bartolotto, Pegg Smith.

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm.

Motion by Smith the accept minutes from previous meeting as written.  2nd by Sanders, all agreed.

Road Master report read.

Trooper Earnhardt gave us a written report of incidents in the township from last year and this year for comparison.  The state police will be sending an officer to the townships to report at least twice a year.

Denise Chadwick from the Morris Twp Historical Society was present to discuss some work being done to the schoolhouse and depot. The handy man doing the work does not have liability insurance so the solicitor will be asked to write up something to protect the township should anything happen during the repairs. The Historical Society will have Jim Weinschenker speaking about the railroad at their November 8 meeting.

In old business: The Christmas decorations were discussed. Pricing and size and availability of decorations, approval from West Penn Power is still pending.  A decision on what to purchase has been tabled until next year so that we can have a better selection and pricing.

Smith brought up the election workers. There have been enough people who volunteered to cover the vacancies.

Randy asked about the status of the garage doors for the cinder shed.  Sanders checked with Orkin about other methods, and they are almost as expensive as the doors will be. He is looking into Co-Stars pricing for the doors to get it done for the least amount of money possible.

Randy asked question about the paperwork for the walking trail. There is not much we can do until spring, so the engineer does not have to have everything completed until Spring.  He will work on it over the winter.

Randy asked about getting signs for the new truck doors. There is no hurry to get this done.*  Smith will look into pricing.

In new business: Karen Shaw explained her plan to put out luminaries on Christmas Eve and what will be needed to do so. They will be made with plastic jugs with sand and candles that will burn all night.  The township has agreed to supply sand and the meeting room as a place to put them together.  Volunteers will place them out on either side of the road through town Christmas Eve and pick them up on Christmas morning.

Randy asked about the decision on a solicitor. The discussion will be on the agenda for the next meeting.

Motion to review and pay bills by Smith, 2nd by Dietrich. All agreed

Meeting adjourned at 8:31

*Correction made at November 17 meeting by Chairman Smith: The comment that there is no hurry to get this done is not everyone’s opinion.  This was Supervisor Dietrich’s opinion.
