Supervisor Meeting Minutes – May 18, 2022

The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met for their regular meeting at the Municipal Building.  Present were Supervisors Rob Sanders, Dave Dietrich and Sam Bartolotto, Zoning Officer Bob Sanders, Greg Dunn, Tim Hamilton, Randy Hamilton, James Mayer from Hill International, Doug Smith, Dusty Stockdale.

Meeting was called to order at 6:00.

Public Participation: Randy Hamilton asked about the walking trail and streetlights. Walking trail plan has received final approval to proceed with work and we’re still waiting on word from WPP on the streetlights.

Motion by Sanders to accept the minutes from the last meeting as written.  Seconded by Bartolotto.  All agreed.

Road report read.

Discussion on truck pricing. A price on trucks was quoted from Hudson Trucks of $99,700 for the truck, with the bed, hydraulics and all upfitting added, total cost is $181,255.00. Jim from Hill stated that he has not been able to get any numbers yet for a quote and that he hopes to be able to have something by the end of next week. More discussion on pricing, time frame for delivery, emissions standards changing in 2024.

Oil bids were opened at 6:15. They were as follows:

                      Russell Standard                                             Midland

CRS2E3                $2.97                                                               $2.65

CRMS2 E5           $3.33                                                               $2.92

MC70                   $3.05*                                                             $4.40

*Note:  There was a mistake in the reading of the bid for MC70     $3.50 was stated but it was actually $3.05

Motion by Dietrich to award E3 and E5 to Midland and MC70 to Russell Standard.  Seconded by Sanders. All agreed.

There was more discussion on when to order trucks. Ordering them does not obligate us to purchase them, it just gets the ball rolling.  Dietrich stated that he would like to wait to get numbers from Hill.  Sanders would like to get things going now and cancel later if we get a better price.  Motion by Sanders to put in order for new trucks at the above quoted cost. Seconded by Bartolotto. Dietrich objects as he would like to wait for numbers from Hill. Motion passes.

Randy Hamilton asked about the repair of the engine of the old truck. Discussion on repair and warranty.

The repair estimate is approximately $34,000 with $5,400 in core charges that will be refunded.  Randy asked if a bid is required for repairs. We don’t believe it is necessary but will check with the solicitor to be sure.  Motion by Sanders to move forward getting the repairs done as long as the solicitor says no bids are needed. Seconded by Sanders. All agreed.

Doug Smith asked about the Community Picnic for 2022.  The date for that is set for September 17.

No new business.

Motion by Sanders to review and pay bills.  Seconded by Dietrich.   All agreed.

Meeting adjourned at 6:45
