Supervisor Meeting Minutes – August 17, 2021

The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met for their regular meeting at the municipal building.  Present were Supervisors Doug Smith, Dave Dietrich, & Rob Sanders, Zoning Officer Bob Sanders, Pegg Smith, Chad Thomas, Randy Hamilton, Dave Watt, Karen Shaw, Glenn Crouse, Dusty Stockdale.

Motion by Smith to accept Aug. 3 minutes as written.  Second by Sanders. All agreed.

Road Master report read.  Lemon Hill Rd has been dragged.  Financial report available for review.

There was a discussion of the solicitor coming to the hearing when it is rescheduled.

Randy asked about wifi hot spot.  Discussion on how that has to be done.

Chad Thomas from Donegal township was present to discuss the following resolutions he hopes can be passed:

  1. No state mandated church closures
  2. No state mandated business closures
  3. No state mandated mask order
  4. No mandatory stay at home order
  5. No vaccine mandate
  6. No vaccine passport

He feels these all should be decisions made at the local level, not the state.  This is a discussion that we will need to have again and will be brought up with the solicitor if the Supervisors decide it is something we would like to move forward with.

Reita Melvin from the McGuffey Area Revitalization Group contacted us and would like to attend a future meeting to update us on the progress of their project.  Pam will get that set up.

Pertaining to the Watson Conditional Use Hearing, the following motion was read,

“Because the Applicant failed to attend the scheduled Planning Commission meeting resulting in the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors not being able to meet time restrictions, the Application is denied unless the Applicant:

  1. Agrees, in writing, to a time extension for both the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors action;
  2. Waives, in writing, all time restrictions for any actions by both Planning Commission meeting and Board of Supervisors; and
  3. Agrees to a continuance of the matter to the next Planning Commission meeting and Township meeting after said meeting date of the Planning Commission.
  4. Agrees to pay any additional costs to the Township, if any, as a result of the continuance.

Motion by Smith to pass the motion pending approval from the Planning Commission. 2nd by Dietrich, All agreed.

Motion to review and pay bills by Smith, Second by Sanders. All agreed. Meeting adjourned at 8:08pm.
