Minutes ~ Board of Supervisors’ Special Meeting ~ March 20, 2026

The Morris Township Board of Supervisors held a special meeting on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Township Municipal Building.

CALL TO ORDER & ROLL CALL

All Board members were present for the meeting.  Township Solicitor Dennis Makel was also present.  Chairman Bracey called the meeting to order at 1:000 pm. 

Randy Hamilton arrived late to the meeting.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

The Board of Supervisors, Mr. Makel, and the Secretary stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. 

NEW BUSINESS

Chairman Bracey announced that the Board held an Executive Session on March 14, 2026 for personnel reasons (interviewed Daniel Watt). 

The Township will begin Phase 1 of the America 250 Grant.  The Township employees will prep the site and the Township will purchase the materials for concrete.  The Township would like to hire a concrete contractor to pour and finish the concrete.  Chairman Bracey motioned to begin collecting proposals for the concrete work.  Supervisor Coffield seconded the motion.  All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried. 

The Township will also check the Co-Stars site to find vendors for basketball hoops and pickleball nets. 

The Board discussed expenditures relating to road maintenance.  The priority for road maintenance should be on heavier travelled roads versus roads that may be less traveled.  The Board will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that funds for road expenses are being used appropriately. 

Chairman Bracey made a motion to add an agenda item regarding retirement plans for Jeff Mooney.  Supervisor Coffield seconded the motion.  All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried. 

Chairman Bracey made a motion to accept the retirement notification submitted by Jeff Mooney on February 23, 2026 with an effective date of April 16, 2026.  The motion was seconded by Vice Chairman Finch.  All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried. 

Chairman Bracey motioned to add another item to the agenda regarding the employment of Daniel Watt.  The motion was seconded by Supervisor Coffield.  All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.

Chairman Bracey motioned to hire Daniel Watt as a Road Crew worker, with a starting payrate of $26.00/hour effective Monday, March 30, 2026.  Motion seconded by Supervisor Coffield.  All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.

Chairman Bracey motioned to add an item to the agenda regarding legal representation.  Motion seconded by Vice Chairman Finch.  All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.

Chairman Bracey motioned to retain Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP as representatives of Morris Township and all labor relations issues at a rate of $400.00/ hour.  Motion was seconded by Vice Chairman Finch.  All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT

There was no public comment. 

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

Chairman Bracey motioned to adjourn the meeting.  Supervisor Coffield seconded the motion.  All in favor, Ayes: 3, motion carried.  The meeting adjourned at 1:15 pm. 

The next Board of Supervisors Regular Monthly Meeting will be Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 7:00 pm.
