Supervisor Meeting Minutes – September 5, 2017

The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met at the township office for their regular scheduled meeting.  Present were Supervisors David Dietrich, David Stockdale, Doug Smith, Zoning Officer Bob Sanders, and resident Carl Sanders.

Chairman Stockdale called the meeting to order at 7:31 P.M.  Minutes of the previous meeting were read.  One correction was made.  In the paragraph pertaining to the Range Resources Strawn Impoundment, the sentence should have stated “Previously the Strawn Freshwater Impoundment was approved to service the Kearny Well in Amwell Township and other Range wells in Morris Township of Washington County.  Motion by Stockdale, second by Dietrich to approve the minutes as corrected.  All agreed.

In old business, regarding the Prosperity Cemetery Round House, Smith gave Stockdale the info he received back from Washington County.  Stockdale will present information to the Cemetery Association.  Smith stated that he will submit the form and pay the $75.00 fee for registering the Roundhouse as a Washington County Historical site.

Stockdale stated that Kurt’s Signs will have the mockup drawing of the Morris Township signs ready within the next 2 weeks.

Regarding the Weir Cole Road slip repair, Dietrich stated they have been making good progress on the large slip, however rain has hampered their ability to finish the slip repair work.  Once it dries up enough to complete the work, then they will move on to the Dry Run Road Slip.

Verizon has not buried any of the exposed phone lines on Elwood Day.  Their 60 day time frame to do the work has expired. Dietrich will make a Pa One call and being ditching Elwood Day Road.

Concerning the Convex Mirror request, Secretary Lesnock was informed by the township’s insurance company, H.A. Thomson, that the insurance would cover liability for the installation of a convex mirror.  However, they stated the township’s solicitor would have to be consulted on the matter.  Secretary has not heard back from Attorney Hook yet. 

Regarding the 2020 Census, Carol Jo Gaylor has agreed to be appointed the census worker for the 2020 census. 

In new business, ADT will meet at the new township building at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday morning 9/6/17. Secretary will contact Mike Verner about the phone lines at the new building.

Pennsylvania American Water stated that the township’s water meter pit has been covered in the parking lot of the current municipal building rendering the electronic meter reading impossible.  Road crew will uncover pit. 

Motion by Dietrich, second by Smith to review and pay bills.  Motion by Stockdale, second by Smith to adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 8:37 P.M.
