Supervisor Meeting Minutes – October 17, 2017

The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met at the township office for their regular scheduled meeting.  Present were supervisors David Dietrich, Dusty Stockdale, Zoning Officer Bob Sanders, Planning Commission member Randy Hamilton, Carl Sanders, Doug Stockdale, Tom and Jan Coffield.

Chairman Stockdale called the meeting to order at 7:35 P.M.  Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

In old business, Tom Coffield previously told Supervisors that he wished to seek a Zoning Variance to enable him to sell cars/trucks out of his current auto/truck repair/inspection business, Coffield Automotive.  After Coffield attended the Morris Township Planning Commission meeting of October 9th, the planning commission recommended that the supervisors consider a curative amendment of Ordinance #2 of 2010, Section 1, Auto Body/Engine Repair, to include Retail Auto/Truck sales.  Secretary Lesnock will contact Solicitor Hook to determine the timeline for advertising of the Planning Commission meeting and Supervisor’s hearing. Discussion ensued.

Doug Stockdale is interested in obtaining a building permit for a pole barn that he wishes to build upon his mother’s property that is currently in a trust and he has power of attorney for his mother.  He would like to request a variance in the setback distance from his own property line.  Secretary Lesnock previously spoke with Solicitor Hook regarding this matter and he indicated that the applicant would have to submit all legal documents regarding the trust/power of attorney, etc., for the Zoning Officer to review before any decision is made as to whether-or-not Doug Stockdale could obtain a building permit, etc. Discussion ensued.

Dusty Stockdale stated that Kurt’s Signs of Claysville has completed 2 of our township signs and that the big sign will be set on Tuesday.

Township received a verbal temporary occupancy certificate. Also, H.A. Thompson has insured the new township building/contents and separate generator structure and generator.  Tim Fritz still has to complete the installation of the security cameras and the current phone numbers will be transferred to the new building when final certificate of occupancy is received.

Township has not received all invoices from Sunbelt Rentals.  Payment for equipment rental must be accompanied by invoices, not just a statement.

Dietrich stated that he’s had two requests for “Watch Children” signs to be erected along Sparta Road around the area of 449 Sparta Road. Secretary to send letter of request to Penn DOT.

Jim Wilson has not worked as a temporary employee since the week before last. Randy Hamilton felt the township should indicate an end time for need of temporary employee. Discussion ensued.

In new business, the estimated cost for the Greene County Regional Police Service for 2018 is $50,544.00.  Police Chief Natale gave the estimated cost info to the township so that the township would be able to decide for 2018 and the upcoming 2018 budget. Discussion ensued.

The final walk through at the new municipal building is scheduled for Wednesday October 18, 10:00 A.M.

Motion by Dietrich, second by Stockdale to review and pay bills.  Motion by Stockdale, second by Dietrich to adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 8:40 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathy Lesnock, Secretary
