Supervisor Meeting Minutes – November 20, 2018

The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met at the township office for their regular scheduled meeting.  Present were Supervisors Rob Sanders, David Dietrich, Doug Smith, Carl Sanders, James Zediker and Richard Riggins.

Chairman Sanders called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.  Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion by Sanders, second by Dietrich to approve the minutes as read. 

In old business, Hathaway’s reimbursed the township for the demolition of their dilapidated dangerous structures.  

There were a couple changes to the proposed storage building plans.  The divider walls will have pressure treated posts, but the outside wall will have laminated posts.

The new UPMC health insurance policy for full time employees goes into effect on December 1. 

Mike Verner will download the purchased Quickbooks pro 2019 software program on the township computer the week after Thanksgiving. 

Rob Sanders spoke with the Kearney’s contractor.  Rick Kearney stated they would do whatever needed done to correct the drainage issue in front of the Kearney farm after the residential gas line contractor completed his work.

The dead tree near Castro’s has been pushed over.  Township received Penn Dot approval to place school bus stop ahead signs on Prosperity Pike near Randy Locy’s home.  Signs have been ordered. 

Secretary will advertise for Tuesday, December 18th at 7:00 P.M., Supervisors Hearing for Mari Phillips of Mt. Zion Road, request for a Conditional Use for a home occupation to operate a craft shop from her home. The Morris Township Planning Commission recommended approval during their last planning commission meeting. Secretary will contact Court Stenographer and place legal ad in Observer.

Motion by Dietrich, second by Smith to adopt the 2019 proposed budget with no increase in township tax.  All agreed.

In new business, Andrew Kinter of CNX told road crew that CNX will re-profile a portion of Archer Road and will add Portland cement to the reprofiling material.  Crew will meet with Kinter to look at the road.

James Zediker, Grove Road, stated that his house has been shaking, sometimes to the point where dishes will fall off the table and he was awakened at 4:30 A.M., by the house shaking.  He said he previously contacted Range Resources over a year ago and they have not gotten back to him.  Supervisors stated there has not been any drilling at the Castro well site for numerous years.  Carl Sanders wondered if there could be an old abandoned gas well or an abandoned oil well beneath his home and that possible pressure could be building up. After much discussion, supervisors said they would call Coastal to see if they know of any abandoned wells in his area. Smith told Zediker where the DEP office was located.

Motion by Dietrich, second by Sanders to review and pay bills.  Motion by Sander, second by Smith to adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 8:25 P.M.
