Supervisor Meeting Minutes – May 21, 2019

The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met at the township meeting room for their regular scheduled meeting.  Present were Supervisors Rob Sanders, Dave Dietrich, Doug Smith, Zoning Officer Bob Sanders, Janet and Tim Hamilton and Jamie Harshman.

Chairman Sanders called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.  Minutes of the previous meeting were read.  Motion by Smith, second by Sanders to approve the minutes as read.

In old business, supervisors discussed what was required to try and apply for a federal broad band grant.  Engineer Jamie Harshman said he would do some research and help inform the board what would be needed to apply for such a grant.  He stated he could get more information to the board sometime before 4:30 P.M., on Wednesday May 22, 2019.

Supervisors discussed the Range plans for the Pie Ridge Road improvement.  The Range Plans were forwarded to Civil Engineer Jamie Harshman for his review.  Supervisors also want Jamie Harshman Engineering to do the road inspections that relate to Range’s work on Pie Ridge and Range will be responsible to pay for those inspections. Discussion ensued.

In new business, Mar Lindley called Secretary Lesnock and told her a woman she knows wants to set up her food truck at the former Prosperity Gas Station site located at the intersection of Prosperity Pike (SR-0018) and S Bridge Road (SR-0221) that is owned by John and Mar Lindley.  It is zoned B-1 Business. Previously, there was a mobile food tent that was operated on that site in the past.  Township Solicitor Hook will be asked about this and how it relates to our ordinance. Also, a second woman, Barbara Cassidy inquired about setting up a food truck at a pull off at Archer Road (TR-337) located near the intersection of Plum Sock Road (SR-0221) and Archer Road (TR-337).  That area is zoned A-1 Agriculture.  Barbara Cassidy did not know who the owner of that property is.  The property owner would have to obtain a Conditional Use for an “eating establishment” (Food Truck) to be operated from the owner’s property.  Discussion ensued.

Motion by Sanders, second by Smith to review and pay bills.  Motion by Sanders, second by Smith to continue the meeting on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 4:30 P.M., so that the grant information could be discussed further in case there is a chance to apply for a grant prior to the end of May.  All agreed.

On Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 4:30 P.M., Chairman Sanders reconvened the previous evenings continued township meeting.  Supervisors Dave Dietrich, Tim and Janet Hamilton were also in attendance. Jamie Harshman’s research discovered that it could take the better part of six to twelve months to compile info to complete a Federal grant application for broadband.  There are many other loopholes the township would have to make it through in order to apply.  As there was no need to take any action on the application, Motion by Sanders, second by Dietrich to adjourn the meeting.  Meeting adjourned at 4:35 P.M.

Respectfully submitted, Kathy Lesnock, Secretary
