Supervisor Meeting Minutes – January 16, 2018

The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met at the township meeting room for their regular scheduled meeting.  Present were Supervisors Rob Sanders, David Dietrich, Doug Smith, Zoning Officer Bob Sanders, Planning Commission member Randy Hamilton and Zoning Hearing Board member Dusty Stockdale.

Chairman Sanders called the meeting to order at 7:31 P.M.  Minutes of the previous meeting were read.  Motion by Smith, second by Dietrich to approve the minutes as read.  All agreed.

In old business, Supervisors discussed which holding tank agreement to use for the former Daisy Mounts property on Craft Creek Road.  Motion by Smith, second by Dietrich to use the Washington County Sewage Council holding tank form.  All agreed.

Dietrich stated that he is still waiting for the FCC Radio License.

The road crew picked up the Steam Jenny pressure washer.

Regarding whether-or-not the township wants to obtain flood insurance on the current township municipal building and the former municipal building, even though neither is within a flood zone. Supervisors tabled the issue for now.

The Morris Township Vietnam Marker was checked to see if the names of Roy Anderson and Clark Miller have been etched by Mooreland Vault Service.  They have not done either, and the township paid Mooreland Vault for each name last summer.

Rob Sanders spoke with Magistrate Ward about the grace amount pertaining to speed limit.  Ward stated that the grace amount he gives is 10 MPH over the speed limit.  The police can enforce the speed limit by issuing tickets for any speed that is 10 MPH over the speed limit.

In new business, Supervisors discussed the exterior doors of the new municipal building.  When the outside temperature is extremely cold, the doors are almost impossible to open.  Waller Corporation will be replacing the thresholds on the exterior entry doors.

Jon Carter sent an email to the township requesting that he be permitted to place a family cemetery upon his farm located on Craft Creek Road.  His farm is divided between East Finley Township and Morris Township.  He has already received approval from East Finley Township for a family cemetery and East Finley Township forwarded a copy of their minutes to Morris Township verifying this information.  He would like to place the cemetery in both East Finley and Morris Township. Smith felt that the cemetery issue may be in our ordinance.  However, Smith tabled the issue to make sure that it is, but stated he is in favor of it otherwise.

Motion by Dietrich, second by Smith to review and pay bills.  Motion by Dietrich, second by Smith to adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 8:35 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathy Lesnock, Secretary
