Supervisor Meeting Minutes – February 6, 2018
The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met at the township office for their regular scheduled meeting. Present were Supervisors Rob Sanders, Dave Dietrich, Doug Smith, Zoning Officer Bob Sanders, Carl Sanders, Randy Hamilton, Doug Stockdale, Tom and Janet Coffield.
Chairman Sanders called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion by Smith, second by Dietrich to approve the minutes as read.
Before the meeting went into any other business, Sanders stated that the board would address the Curative Amendment regarding the request to add additional conditional use of auto and truck sales in relation to previous ordinance #1 of 1973 and Ordinance #10 of 2010. As advertised, Sanders opened the meeting up to public comment regarding this and court stenographer Kim Strnisha took over as court stenographer for the recording of this part of the meeting. When the public comment was completed, Dietrich made a motion to end public comment and second by Sanders. Then motion by Dietrich second by Sanders to adopt Ordinance #1 of 2018 amending zoning Ordinance #1, effective June 4, 1973, providing for the definition and permitting of additional conditional uses in the A-1 Agricultural district of Morris Township as established in the Morris Township Zoning Ordinance will include, Automobile Sales Lot-a lot and building(s) used primarily for the outdoor or indoor display or sale of new or used motor vehicles. All agreed.
Chairman Sanders opened the meeting to old business. Dietrich received the FCC Radio License approval and it is valid for 10 years.
Lesnock called Moreland Vault to inquire about etchings of names needing completed on Vietnam Memorial. Smith felt someone needs to stop in person and inquire.
Waller Corp., replaced exterior door thresh holds that were problematic.
Carl Sanders stated that he is against using taxpayer funds to tear down the dilapidated Hathaway House. He said the township will never recoup their money by placing a lien on the property. Smith disagreed and stated eventually the township would be their money back. The township will have to renotify Hathaways and obtain new bids for demo. Rob Sanders asked if there was another alternative. Discussion ensued. Sanders tabled the issue.
Township received another packet of info from Gateway Engineering was received by the township. They are still working on having waterlines go from the Strawn Impoundment to another well site in Amwell. Range still has to apply for a new conditional use for such a request. Range will have to come to a township meeting.
Supervisors to decide upon a Wednesday workshop date to go over an employee manual. Secretary to advertise.
In new business, Dietrich was notified by Consol indicating they need to move 3 or 4 loads of material from their Archer Road site and are unable to go through the bridge project on Plum Sock Road. They are requesting to use Pie Ridge Road. Dietrich stated they would be required to bond the road. He is not sure of the date they wish to move the material.
Dietrich would like to obtain some bids to construct another little building at the cinder shed site so that salt can be stored to treat the paved roads that we have. They could also keep some stone and cold patch out of the weather. A sketch of the building will be provided so that all know what is in mind.
Motion by Sanders, second by Dietrich to review and pay bills. Motion by Dietrich, second by Sanders to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 8:36 P.M.
