The Morris Township Board of Supervisors met at the township office for their regular scheduled meeting. Present were Supervisors Rob Sanders, Dave Dietrich, Solicitor Bill Hook, Zoning Officer Bob Sanders, Planning Commission member Randy Hamilton, Zoning Hearing Board member Dusty Stockdale, Carl Sanders, Tom & Janet Coffield, Megan Brownlee and Bob Lamperski.
Chairman Sanders called the meeting to order at 7:55 P.M. Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion by Sanders, second by Dietrich to approve the minutes as read.
In old business, Solicitor Hook stated the title work was completed on the Hathaway property. Although it is owned free and clear by the Hathaway’s, there are two other parties of interest on the property. Range Resources has a lease on the property and Mark West has a right of way. There are currently delinquent taxes upon the property. Carl Sanders spoke and stated that he wants the board to reconsider having the dilapidated structure torn down as they will use tax payer funds and there is no guarantee the township will get that money back by placing a lien upon the property. Dusty Stockdale asked if it were possible for the property to go up for a delinquent tax sale. Hook said that very rarely happens. Sanders felt the board should wait to decide until Smith comes to the next meeting. Dietrich stated he is torn about this issue. Motion by Sanders, second by Dietrich to table this issue until Smith comes back.
Township still waiting on Road Bond from Mark West for Pie Ridge Road. Sanders still waiting on drawings from Norman for possible cold patch/salt storage building. There is nothing new regarding John Lindley’s possible interest in putting a water fill station at the former gas station in Prosperity and other than John asking about such an endeavor, no formal request was made.
In new business, Randy Hamilton felt that the new Police Chief of the Greene County Regional Police Department should come to a township meeting to introduce himself to the people and let the township know if things will be continuing as usual or if there will be any changes. Township will reach out to the Chief with the request that he attend the next township meeting.
In new business, Randy Hamilton presented a rough draft of a possible conditional use/business and zoning application. Randy discussed the need for the township to have such an application instead of having applicants write up a narrative of their request. Solicitor Hook agreed with the need for such applications. Tom Coffield stated that an application would have been very helpful to him when he applied for a conditional use. Hook and Hamilton will work together to draw up such an application and the board can review once it is complete.
Motion by Dietrich, second by Sanders to review and pay bills. Motion by Sanders, second by Dietrich to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 8:43 P.M.
